Would you consider buying a Telluride again?

Kia is buying back our 2024 Telluride due to significant issues with the forward collision detection system. My wife is fond of the car, but now we’re faced with the decision of either getting another 2024/2025 Telluride or choosing a different vehicle. We need something spacious for kids, a dog, and all-wheel drive. What would you recommend?

I’m not sure. We purchased our 2024 Telluride in January and have come across many horror stories since then, but our experience has been fine. They produce about 2,000 of these each week, so some defects are likely, but satisfied owners often don’t share their experiences, making it hard to gauge overall satisfaction online. Right now, I’m cautiously optimistic. Ask me again in a year.

One thing I found interesting is that Hyundai/Kia is the third-largest car manufacturer in the world by unit volume, following VW and Toyota, so they must have some expertise in building successful vehicles.

I purchased my 2020 model in October 2019, so I’m approaching five years with it and still enjoy it every day. Thankfully, I haven’t had any problems aside from one small piece of weatherstripping that came loose and needed to be replaced. Everything else has just been routine maintenance. The original battery is still going strong, but I should probably think about replacing it before winter, just to be safe given its age.

I would definitely consider buying another one, but honestly, I’m not looking to buy a new car for the next 5-10 years. We’ll see what’s available when that time comes!

I have a 2020 model that will hit 100,000 miles this year, and I love it. I’m curious if the production quality for the 2024 models has decreased given all the complaints I’ve seen here.

We chose the most basic package, but next time, I want it fully loaded with all the features. I absolutely love this car!
