Suggestions for enhancing keyless entry functionality:

‘24 SX - I’m sorry to say, but the keyless entry on this car isn’t great. It seems to work only about 50% of the time. Has anyone figured out how to improve it? Some days it works perfectly, while other times I’m left struggling with the handle like I’m trying to steal the car!

I had the same issue with my ‘23 SXP. For nine months, the keyless entry worked intermittently, especially on the driver’s side. After several service visits, the dealer applied a SA542 update per a service bulletin, and it has worked flawlessly for a year since.

I had a Palisade from 2021-2022, and I could unlock all doors just by touching the front passenger handle. I’m not sure why the Telluride doesn’t work the same way. It seems like the designers didn’t consider the convenience for parents loading kids into the back.

There was a recall software update for this issue at the dealer, which definitely improved my situation. My main complaint now is that the car doesn’t let you unlock or lock from the back doors like my BMW and Audi. It’s really inconvenient having to always go to the front door to lock it.

From a UX perspective, the design isn’t very intuitive, and two main issues often confuse users.

First, with the outside handle button:

  • If any door or the liftgate is unlocked, pressing this button will lock them. If everything is locked and closed, it will unlock them. If the two-press lock feature is activated (via the instrument panel or steering wheel settings), the first press unlocks only the driver’s door, and a second press within four seconds unlocks all doors. If deactivated, the first press unlocks the driver’s door, and a second press within four seconds locks all doors.

Second, some models have touch sensors. On these models, the driver’s door unlocks when your hand is detected on the inside of the handle (as if pulling it open) and locks when you press the outside button.
