I feel like KIA is trying to dupe everyone a bit. That’s not the ‘package’ being offered. The suspension and components were built by LGE, so that’s not the truck you’re getting.
It’s super cool though! If Kia designed one like what’s in the video, I think it would generate a lot of buzz.
@Devi
It mentions that in the video, and there are several write-ups about the modifications made in various press pieces. The stock vehicle is still very capable with different modes for varied terrains. I had a blast!
The camera angle that will be most important to most buyers is conspicuously missing.

I don’t get it.

Groceries in the trunk.

LOL
@Carson
Thank you.
This guy gets it.
The amount of “toe-in” on the front wheels at full droop made me think they broke something. Is that normal or a good quality for offroading?

It totally depends on the suspension and use case in question. On a TTB (twin traction beam) setup, having noticeable toe at full droop wouldn’t concern me too much. At that suspension travel point, traction isn’t enough for steering input to matter anyway. If it was a vehicle without significant suspension travel, I’d be a bit more worried. It’s tough to say without knowing the design specifics.

That toe-in is part of the off-road suspension modifications made on the vehicle for this obstacle course demo. There are several write-ups online detailing the modifications for this event.
I was very interested in this when it was first introduced as a concept. They mentioned it would potentially come with a V8 450+hp motor, which seemed a bit too ambitious.
The Tau 4.6 engine was a solid performer for Kia, with comparable horsepower to the big 3 at the time—339hp in truck form and an impressive 429 in sedans. It would be fantastic to see it used in the Telluride, but it looks like they are sticking with the 3.3 again. Such a disappointment.
