The place I’m considering is asking $45k. I offered them $40k, and we left it at that. I decided to step away, saying I would look around a bit more and might return later.
It has 28,000 miles.

I recommend not including tax in quotes, as it varies by state. Your dealer is asking $43k for that car, which includes the hefty $700 ‘doc’ fee that goes straight to their profit. That’s why we suggest posting prices paid and quotes here without taxes, since they differ by state and are beyond our control.
Kimchiwarrior77 paid $48k (before tax) for his SXP, meaning there’s a $5k difference between the two prices—$5k for a used car with 28k miles and a less favorable warranty.
I don’t think that discount is significant enough. You might want to consider looking at new cars for just a few thousand dollars more or push for a bigger discount.
What discount are we looking at? The nearest Prestige model to me (within 100 miles) is priced at $54,000 on Kia’s website.
For what it’s worth, Carvana offered $41k cash for our 2023 SX with 8,000 miles.
Over $40k—what’s the point? You can get a new 2024 SX for around $46-47k right now. At these prices, the prestige package isn’t worth it.
I got a brand new 2024 SX-Premium with only 400 miles from the dealership owner last week for $47,500, and then I added tax, title, and plates to that.
