Is additional tint necessary?

Hi everyone,
I’m purchasing a new Telluride and am trying to decide whether to tint the windows. Based on your experience, do you think the factory tint is sufficient, or would you prefer more tint?

I tinted the front windows to match the rear, which is around 25-30%. The front is at 25%, making it slightly darker than the rear. For me, it was about comfort while driving and the look of the car. High-quality ceramic tints can block a lot of infrared light. Even with 0% ceramic but a high IR block (69-97% range like LLumar), it can make a noticeable difference in reducing heat inside the car during short periods, like a few hours while you’re in the store. However, after longer exposure, it will eventually get hot regardless. Since I garage my car, I was less worried about heat buildup. But with my 88% IR-blocking ceramic tint, I definitely noticed less heat coming through the windows onto my arm on sunny days.

Is tint necessary? Not really, unless you live in an extremely hot or sunny area.

However, it looks great, so we went for it.

I purchased a 22 SXP with a darker tint installed. I find it great for daytime driving since it helps keep the black interior cooler. However, I do find that the dark tint makes night driving somewhat more challenging.

My back windows are tinted a deep black. I’m planning to match the front driver and passenger windows with a 20% tint, and I’ll also have the top 6 inches of my windshield tinted at 5%.

Nano tint is essential for keeping kids and passengers cool. You can choose a clear tint if you prefer. The color and darkness are not as important as the quality of the tint.
