Considering a Kia Telluride What do you love or hate about it Any tips on getting a good deal

2024 SXP XPro

The only issue I have is no wireless CarPlay and no auto lock when I walk away from the car.

The app and phone key need a lot of improvement compared to Tesla’s.

23 x-line sx prestige. I love it as my daily driver. Coming from a fusion with limited tech, this feels like a huge upgrade. My biggest (but small) issues are no wireless CarPlay, no massage seat function, the collision sensors don’t work in snow or ice, can’t lock the fob in the car or lock the car while running, and keyless entry is unreliable—I often have to use the button on the fob to unlock the doors.

I’ve had four electric-related recalls in the first year. My experiences with Kia service have been hit or miss. For example, I filmed my doors failing to unlock while my hand was on the door handle, but they wouldn’t accept that as proof because it’s not always an issue; they said they needed to capture it using their iPad to validate warranty claims.

I’m okay if a generally reliable vehicle has some issues, but how those issues are managed really matters. It sounds like the Kia dealerships aren’t very user-friendly, which is concerning. Thanks for sharing!

I enjoy my 2021 S. Bought it used, and it’s been a great experience.

Appreciate your feedback!

The door handle sensors don’t work well in humid or cold weather. I know several people with the same problem.
I’ve had to replace the front parking sensor twice; the dealer said it’s a cable design issue. Other than that, it’s not a bad vehicle, and a good value for the price.

@Dayton
Value is something I’ve been learning about with the Telluride. I’m impressed with the overall customer satisfaction ratings, sitting in the mid-80s. It shows that most buyers are pretty happy.

@Atlas
I think the biggest issue most have with Kia is the dealerships. I’ve heard similar stories here in Canada; they can be terrible.

Thank you for your insight!

I really like my 2020 Telluride a lot, but my dealer experience locally hasn’t been great, filled with dishonesty from service to lack of knowledge from the sales team.

I added a wireless Android Auto adapter to make it more convenient and I’m about to install an aftermarket remote start since my 5-year free subscription just ended last week and renewal is pricey in Canada. The 2020 model required the app to access remote start.

AAWireless 2 will give you the wireless car play and Android Auto experience while fixing one of the biggest issues with the car. The only other problem is the window trim, as glue used can separate, but dealers generally replace it without issue.

When shopping for a new SUV back in 2022, we looked at several 7-seater models. Nothing compared to the Telluride in terms of features. Some came close but were priced $15k or more above. We ordered a 22 and then placed another order for a 2023 that we received in January. Love them! A common complaint has been about the wired Android Auto and CarPlay, but we deal with it; besides, I prefer my phone to be charged up when arriving.

@Bryce
I keep seeing the value in Kia’s price range compared to others out there. Thanks for your feedback!

I love everything about my 23 x pro. It’s been going great; it drives smoothly and has a lot of room for my teenagers.

My wife has a 14 Telluride which I’ve driven a little. Really nice layout, great tech, and a decent ride. I do dislike the auto lane keeping; I have to turn it off every time I get in. The rear view camera mirror can make me feel nauseous too. Be sure to check for a spare tire since I understand some models don’t come with one.

I have the 2024 X Pro and it has had its share of issues; we had an engine recall and had to replace everything within three months of ownership. The trim is coming off, mostly holding up on the inside even with two kids, but now the new engine is burning oil—I can’t see myself keeping this car for more than three years. I’ll be heading back to a German brand where I can get a better CPO model for similar money.

I really love my 2024 EX X-Line. I’ve had it for about a year, and I have zero complaints.

I adore it. I did extensive research and this has become my favorite car in 25 years (besides my 71 Chevelle)

Totally get you on the Chevelle—those were fantastic back in the day.
