Just curious, are there any cars that show directions from AA or CarPlay on the HUD?

Kia Carnival SXP can show directions from Android Auto in the HUD. They have the technology, just not for the Telluride.

@Darwin
I bought a solid wireless adapter for Android Auto that connects super fast. Might be the only one using 5Ghz WiFi. If anyone wants to check it out - Amazon.com: MSXTTLY Android Auto Wireless Adapter for Car Small Android auto Dongle for Converts Wired Android Auto to Wireless Android Auto for Car Model 2017+ Play Plug, Black : Electronics

What does the HUD show? Is it just speed info? That’s disappointing

Pretty much only speed, and some extras like lane keeping signs, music changes, etc. It shows navigation for the next turns but only when using the native navigation.

I’ve got a 2022 Telluride and it’s been amazing. The self-driving is fantastic, makes traffic in LA a breeze, and the cruise control will stop and start on its own too. The control buttons and screens are easy to use; I don’t have to switch screens just to change the cabin temperature. I visit family in Wyoming often, and the all-wheel drive is perfect in the snow. The engine looks simple enough that I feel comfortable working on it myself. The seats are super comfy, great for the long 16-hour drive to Wyoming. In most of my old cars, my back would hurt a lot, but in my Telluride, it’s just mild discomfort by the end of the journey.

One downside is that there’s a drain vent in the middle of the front windshield. Leaves can build up and make water leak into the passenger side. I know how to take care of it now, so it’s not much of an issue any longer

@Cove
I have relatives in Wyoming too. My previous Lincoln made that drive at least once a year, so I get what you mean about the discomfort afterward. My Lincoln was super comfortable and gave me minimal discomfort. I’m thinking about getting an Aviator, but it’s not rated nearly as high as the Telluride, and it doesn’t seem to offer the same value to me. Glad to hear you’re liking yours!

The auto steer assist and cruise control change everything. Just go ahead and buy it

Thank you for your response!

I love it, no complaints after 2 years (2021 nightshade)

Overall, I love the car. It’s an excellent deal.

Not sure if they still offer the nightfall trim, but I would advise against getting it.

I have a 21 SX in Galaxy Gray with Nightfall trim, and it looked amazing the first year, but now it has faded and looks pretty bad. This has happened even though it was replaced once under the 36k warranty.

My biggest issue has been with the dealerships in the Atlanta area. My car has needed quite a bit of service, and they’ve kept it for two weeks without looking at it. Kia dealerships don’t provide loaner cars, so I’m left to rent a car at my expense while I wait for service.

Even with video proof of various systems failing while I was driving, they never tracked down the issues after visiting two different dealers and getting the same lack of help.

@Bret
I keep hearing about the trouble with Kia dealerships, so I really need to be cautious with them. Sorry to hear about your issues. What year Telluride did you buy?

@Bret
I live in central Georgia and got my car from the Columbus KIA dealership. They were great. The service has been good too. It might be worth the drive from Atlanta to use their service department instead.

As others mentioned, check how your dealership operates. Some Kia dealerships behave like they’re selling low-end models. The same goes for some of their service departments. If you tend to keep a car until it’s not usable, a Highlander or Pilot might last longer, but I wouldn’t choose a car I dislike for a decade or two. Plus, if you drive a lot in the city with plenty of stop-and-go time, I’ve seen gas mileage drop to 16 miles per gallon. With all-wheel drive, I usually get between 20 and 22 on the highway, so fuel economy is a bit lacking.

@Darby
I’m retired and plan on taking a lot of shorter trips (less than 5 miles). There will be some road trips but maybe 2-5 a year. I’m looking for a vehicle that will last about 10 years. Fuel economy isn’t my main concern; I’m more focused on reliability and satisfaction. I’ve seen that 83% of Telluride owners love it based on the JD Power and Edmunds data, which caught my interest. I value your honesty. What year Telluride do you drive?

@Atlas
2024 SX prestige xline. I really like it. The only downside is it consumes more fuel than I’d prefer since I drive around 18k miles every year. Still, with the 5-year bumper-to-bumper warranty and a 10-year/100k powertrain warranty, I feel safe recommending it. Definitely test drive it and choose what suits you best.

I swapped my f150 hybrid for the Telluride and I love everything about it. My only complaint is the gas tank size. It lasts me 300 miles, but I was used to a 650-mile range with the F150
