Hello, everyone. Last week, my 2013 Honda Pilot, which had 245,000 miles, was rear-ended with $6,000 in damage, and the insurance is likely to declare it a total loss. I’m considering a Kia Telluride as my next vehicle but am unsure whether to go for a new (2024 or 2025) model or a used/certified pre-owned one. I know the 2023-2025 models are highly regarded, but I’m curious about how far back their quality extends. When did the Telluride make a significant impact in the SUV market? Are the 2020-2022 models also considered excellent for their time?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. By the way, aside from a minor concussion and whiplash, I think I’m okay. Thank you in advance.
I own a 2020 Telluride that I bought in 2019. It still runs like new and has had no issues. While there are 4 recalls, which is normal, it’s been the best car purchase I’ve made.
I have a 2022 SX, which I bought new. It now has around 41,000 miles, and I’ve had no problems with it. I still really enjoy the vehicle. The differences between the 2022 and newer models are minimal, though I do prefer the headlights on the newer versions.
Keep in mind that buying a used car means you won’t get a new car warranty. Most manufacturers offer a certain mileage and years of warranty for the first owner, but this significantly decreases for subsequent owners.
That said, focus on finding a used car with good service records, just as you would with any other used vehicle. I’ve had two, and they’re hard to beat!
I have a 2020 model with 97,000 miles, and I think it’s excellent. I only purchased it a few months ago and it has required some repairs, but nothing unusual for a car with that mileage.
It drives beautifully, comes with many great features, and offers much more space for my two growing teenagers compared to our old Subaru.
I bought my 2022 SX (without the P package, as I didn’t like the HUD or headliner) new in October 2021 for $48,000 (MSRP). It currently has 42,000 miles. The transmission failed at 18,000 miles but was replaced under warranty; aside from that, it has been quite reliable. It’s a great car for kids and enjoyable on long trips, being both quiet and smooth. I’m unsure how well it will age; I’m torn between thinking it might not age well and believing it could easily reach 150,000 miles if properly maintained. I bought it hoping to get around 10 years or 100,000 miles from it, and will consider replacing it once my kids are older and less hard on the vehicle.
