As mentioned in the title, I’m coming from a 2009 Toyota and considering a 2024 Telluride SX-Prestige line as my next car. However, I tend to keep my cars for a long time and I’m worried about their quality and longevity. Is the Telluride a bad choice for me?
The most frustrating aspect of owning a Telluride is the experience with the dealership and service department, as the Kia dealer network is lacking.
I’ve had my 2024 Telluride SX-Prestige X Line for about a year, and it’s a significant upgrade from my old 2009 Toyota RAV4. The technological advancements make them incomparable. The Telluride provides a quiet ride, and the V6 engine is strong when needed, although the gas mileage varies; I’ve gotten as high as 27.9 MPG on the highway, but around town, it’s typically 18-20 MPG. My package covers maintenance for the first two years, and the dealership has been excellent with oil changes and recalls. I usually keep my cars for 10-12 years, and so far, I’m really enjoying the drive.
In 2020, I had 150,000 km on it, and I only needed oil changes and rear brakes.
I’ve driven my Telluride for 30,000 miles. The trim on the rear passenger door, near the window, has come off. There’s a recall for the driver’s seat that can catch fire. When using remote start, the engine shuts off too quickly, often before I get to the vehicle. It’s a comfortable ride with nice curb appeal (I have the X-Line), but I wouldn’t buy another one.
I have a mid-level 2021 Telluride. I was concerned about getting a Kia after owning reliable Toyota and Honda vehicles, but we’ve really enjoyed the Telluride since we bought it. It’s great for families, and after upgrading from a Honda, I was amazed at how smoothly it drives. We haven’t encountered any issues apart from needing to address some recalls. My only complaint is that I wish the rear cargo space were a bit larger, but we can always fold the seats down for bigger items and stack things up high. Overall, we’re very happy with it.
