Do You Find Your 2024 X-Line Has a Rough Ride

From the very first day, I noticed a bouncy ride, but I thought it might just be the newness of the vehicle, so I waited a week and took it in for service. They couldn’t confirm the issue but mentioned it might be a bit rough. They found something wrong and replaced it, but I don’t have the details about the parts.

After getting my car back, it still felt rough. They couldn’t identify any problems. They suggested I bring it back for a few days, but I couldn’t leave it since they didn’t have a loaner available. Eventually, I returned and had the service manager drive with me. He acknowledged feeling the roughness during the test drive. They thought the tires might be overinflated by 5 psi each. They then tested another X-Line and it too had a rough ride.

Now I’m curious if all of them feel like you’re driving on pebbles.

I have the 2024 X Pro. It rides smoothly—definitely not rough. Could it be because of the thicker sidewalls with only having 18-inch wheels?

Absolutely! I feel the same about my 2024 X-Line. I wasn’t sure if it was just me, but my 12-year-old Mazda feels smoother. Your description of driving on pebbles is spot on.

By the way, I switched to 18-inch wheels, but it still has the same rough feeling as with the stock 20s. It’s not the wheels or tires for me.

My SXP feels as smooth as glass…

Coming from a Rav4, the 2024 Telluride SX X-Line feels much more luxurious and smooth. It sounds like something needs fixing or adjusting on your vehicle.

Dealerships should have plenty of vehicles now, so I recommend visiting and asking for a test drive as if you’re a potential buyer (or be open about your situation).

@Caden
I just got the SX X-Line and am very happy with the ride!

I have the SX-Pro version, and it rides smoother and quieter than any other vehicle I’ve owned. That’s one reason we chose it over the XC90, which felt really jarring and made every road crack noticeable.

I drive an S trim and it feels just fine to me.

My SX-Prestige X-Line rides super smoothly, easily absorbing road imperfections without affecting the ride quality. I read a review suggesting the X Pro with its all-terrain tires feels stiffer—like switching from comfy sneakers to stiff rubber soles.

@Colby
That’s what I figured. My '22 SX was smooth, and my '22 Calligraphy Palisade is also smooth. I drove the same route using the same lanes, and the ride was much smoother in those vehicles. I guess I’ll have to take it to a different dealership service department.

@Brice
Please keep us updated if you find anything out. I’m planning to mention it the next time I need service. Thanks!

@Colby
It might feel stiffer than a model with the same size sidewalls, but the X Pro should ride better than the X-Line because of the bigger sidewalls.

I have the EX-X-Line, and it rides smoothly in my opinion. I’ve pushed it a few times; even at highway speeds, it felt great.

Coming from a 2013 CTS, which felt super smooth.

It might have a stiffer suspension setup, which could explain the rough ride you’re experiencing.

Nope. My 24 SX-P X-Line rides like a dream.

Are you used to 20-inch rims with little sidewall? If not, what you’re feeling is probably normal. Most cars have more than 2 inches of tire to absorb road impacts.

I had a '22 SX Prestige with Nightfall, so this should feel very similar to that car. I also own a '22 Palisade Calligraphy, and its ride is noticeably smoother. The ride I experience now never feels truly smooth. I’m not sure if it’s overly emphasizing the rough roads or if it’s just inherently rough.

It could be the tires combined with a poor suspension setup. I don’t understand why they went with those tires, to be honest.

The driveshaft has been noted as an issue in Tellurides across all model years. You can find many posts about it online.

I only use Comfort mode.
