CarPlay has been quite reliable for me during the past year, and this is my first experience with it. I had older vehicles until I got my 2024 SXP X-line. This week, for the first time, I noticed that when switching between messages or phone calls and other apps like music or maps (Google/Waze), the first tap in the second app sometimes initiates a phone call or text message. It seems like the previous screen remains active even when the new one is shown. Has there been a recent update? I haven’t updated the iOS on my phone in some time. What about the infotainment system?

You can expect that rebooting the phone should resolve the issue. If it doesn’t, then try rebooting the infotainment system using the reset button on the radio.

iOS 18 was released this past Monday, and most phones are configured to update automatically. There might be a bug present. I encountered a bug with my Shortcut that automatically shuffles my main driving playlist when my wireless CarPlay connects. I had to recreate the Shortcut for some unknown reason, which resolved the issue. This update still has a few issues, likely because many developers are focused on launching the initial set of Apple Intelligence features next month, which caused them to miss the original launch window.
