2023 Kia Telluride Gets Refreshed Looks And New Tougher Off-Road Trim Levels

@Cass
When I was buying my Stinger, one had their GT at a 5k markup, and the other that I got at none. Literally 20 mins from each other. The markup one being a Darcars also had 2% commission, WTF. They both had ridiculous markups on the EV6 and their Tellurides though.

@Cass
The problem is there are way more bad dealers than good ones. If you have a basket of 10 eggs and 9 are rotten, what would your takeaway be?

Actually in my experience, I would say the majority of people have had a bad experience with a dealer, but that doesn’t mean the majority of dealers are bad. Of the dealers I’ve used, most are very honest and great to work with. Certainly nowhere near the 9/10 that you quote.

@Bin
There are honest dealers out there (and yeah, it’s definitely not just Kia!!), but they are few and far between. I found one ~1,000 miles away from where I live for my Telluride. Yes, it’ll be a 6-7 month wait when all is said and done, and yes, I’ll have to pay to fly there and drive it back, but I’d much rather do that and give my money to GOOD, HONEST people than to the other swindling crook dealers.

@Bin
We got our 2022 Telluride at MSRP from the dealer just down the road from us. So they do exist; you just have to look a little bit harder. Plus, it’s just not Kia; it’s all dealerships. All make some brands.

@Dale
Hence me prefixing my comment with in my region. And it’s not just ‘MSRP’; it’s the dealer addons. Some will sell you a car at ‘MSRP’, and then add $3000 of crap like nitrogen tires, paint protection, door guards, and a bunch of other useless items. And no, they won’t sell you the car without them.

Hilariously enough, the luxury Audi/BMW/Porsche dealers in the wealthy part of town don’t do this; they will sell you a car at MSRP with no addons. Honestly, if you can afford it, it’s not worth the headache to buy a Kia or Hyundai over a similar Audi just to save some money.

And I realize it’s not just Kia, but this post is about a Kia car, which is why I only mention Kia dealers. The Mazda dealers in my region also add on a bunch of nonsense. Out of the dozen+ Toyota dealers, maybe two will sell you a car at MSRP without any addons. Same with Honda.

Those buyers often have longer memories, and come back more frequently. Relationships can matter more there.

@Channing
Those buyers also frequently lease too, which is a great driver of future sales.

The Telluride is mid-sized? I thought the Sorento was mid-sized.

They’re both mid-sized.

Both can be considered mid-size. There’s really no hard-and-fast rule in 3-row CUVs as to what’s mid- or full-size, but the Telluride and Palisade are noticeably shorter than minivans or CUVs like the Traverse and Enclave.

And both the Telluride and Sorento are third-row-standard vehicles, too! I thought that when the Telluride came out, the Sorento would become 2-row-only or at least make the third row optional again, like it had been a few years ago.

@Daryl
The Sorento’s third row is surprisingly roomy too. Way more so than it has any right to be for a car of its size.

They’re the same platform as I recall, and neither is an ‘SUV’.

Can’t believe this is considered mid-size these days. This thing is massive.

It’s a lot smaller in person. It just looks big in the videos. If you put it next to a 4Runner, you can tell it’s not that big. Pretty sure the 4Runner has always been considered a mid-size SUV too.

@Cortland
Compared to a 4Runner, the Telluride is about 5" longer and 2.5" wider, but almost 2" lower. Neither one is what I would call especially big, but then again, I live somewhere where 1/2 ton pickups are normal daily drivers.

@Daryl
A Land Cruiser is only 4” longer and 2” wider than a 4Runner. Most would consider it considerably larger.

Maybe. As I said in another thread, the LC/LX is sort of slotted in between mid- and full-size compared to the Tahoe, Sequoia, etc.
